A BIG THANK-YOU to the Mother's Union from St.John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Lower Sackville. This is a group of 12 ladies who were able to gather over 1200 cans of soup, beans and other canned goods as a donation to Beacon House Food Bank this past January and May.
These ladies truly bring to life the meaning of "neighbours helping neighbours"
They are an inspiration to their church community and to the community at large. Thanks again to all of you from all of us at BH for making a difference in the lives of those we serve.
Thanks to everyone who has supported the call for school supplies.
Here is an update:
- We now have sufficient quantities of 3 ring binders
- However the zippered type is still needed.
- New packages of crayons and pencils would also be appreciated.
- Everything else is still being collected.
Thanks from everyone at Beacon House.
“neighbours helping neighbours”
Each year Beacon House runs a school supplies program in the month of August to assist families for Back to School requirements. Please see the attached picture of some of the items that are often most requested. These items can be donated to Beacon House either through the Food Bank or Retail store during our regular business hours.
Retail Store - Bag Day Sale
Fill a small bag for $10.00 or a large bag for $15.00. Items can include clothing and any articles that are posted on the in-store board that day.
Check Retail store for sale dates.
A huge thank you to the Sackville Lions Club for all of their great work in our community in 2015 and into 2016.
The Lions Club has been a huge supporter of Beacon House Food Bank for years, helping us with our ground beef costs. In the past 5 years they have donated over $65,000 to assist Beacon House in providing this much needed item. For 2016, Sackville Lions have increased their contribution to an annual amount of $16,000 up from $12,000 annually to cover the increasing costs.
A big thank you to Mike Cook and Allan McLeod for their years of service on the Beacon House Board of Directors. It is the dedication of volunteers that are the back bone to making Beacon House a place of help and hope to those in need in our community. Both Mike and Allan are an inspiration of "neighbours helping neighbours".
Shown in these pictures is Board Chair Shaun Murphy presenting Mike and Allan Certificates of Recognition for their service to Beacon House.
Thanks again to both Allan and Mike.
